In a few words I am going to try to explain what a Batizado is.
As in any other Martial Art, capoeira also has Belts but to receive one, you have to train!!!

You must deserve it!

The Grading Ceremony (Batizado) happens once a year, Capoeiristas (Capoeira students) will be receiving their first belt after a minimum of 6 months of training.

For the student to receive their belt, he/she has to play capoeira against a Graduated Capoeiristas like Professor, Contra Mestre or Mestre.
On their 2nd, 3rd & higher belts, things start to get more interesting because they have to play capoeira against more than one Graduated Capoeiristas without any rest in between

The gist of capoeira and the Batizado is simple.

You have to knock the student off their feet or hands.

That is what the Grading is all about, Masters will be using their knowledge, experience, and graceful but malicious movements to trip the students over on the floor.

Believe it or not most of the falls happen without grabbing - just a soft graceful footwork!

However, these are just words.

You have to come to see the show, listen to the live music & feel the vibe for yourself.
